  1. Marty, I’m 50yo. My brother passed away 12 years ago and left his guitar to me. I’ve had a psychological block to taking up the guitar but I’ve watched many of your tutorials and I think you’re the guy who is going to get me past this block.

    1. Michele King that’s incredible. Similar story to mine where my father had a stroke and he always played guitar so I wanted to take it up and play because he always wanted me to.

    1. Cheers for the Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried – Riddleagan Blossoming Solo Remedy (search on google)? It is an awesome one off guide for mastering guitar scales minus the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy at last got excellent results with it.

  2. New here 🙌🏼 my fingers are hurting but I want to impress a girl sooo 🤷🏻‍♂️

    1. You’re planning to learn to play guitar just to impress a girl? That’s a pretty big commitment for a simple crush

  3. Came back because today marks my 1 year of playing guitar. This was the first video I watched. As I’m thinking about it, what all I’ve picked up is amazing. And a solid 90% of what I know Marty taught me. If you’re just starting, or re-starting, stick with Marty

    1. My dad told me if you wanna be really good at something, it takes 10,000 hours of practice, which is a little more than a year.

  4. I’m a 12-year-old girl and I’ve always dreamed of having a guitar and playing one ever since I was 5-years-old. Now I’m finally getting a guitar for Christmas!!! I can’t wait!

Edit: Got my guitar! It’s so hard to play though..
Edit 2: Thank you so much for the support guys! It really means a lot

    1. +Daniel Martin same I figure I can be the greatest guitar player ever by at least 40 if I start now. So hey better now than never just getting a late start lol.

    2. I am 24 years old! I will buy my first guitar soon, nothing can stop us doing what we want to do… good luck for you and everyone here 😄

  5. I have learned SO much from you over the last 9 months. I remember this video when I first started and thought WOW I can actually play something! Now 9 months later I have 3 guitars 2 of which are electric, 2 amps and a handful of effects pedals and I am rockin!!! Now I’m playing songs by AC-DC, Metallica, Bob Seger, even some Eric Clapton.
I’m 54 years old and have MS and if I can do it, anybody can do it. Just stick with it! Thank you so much Marty!

    1. That’s awesome man. (and motivating) Today is day 1 for me. I’m 30 and just bought my first guitar on Saturday. I’m hoping I’m able to learn.

    2. +Noah Bauer Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t think that I could do it. I could not make my hand make the chords and it really hurt at first. I thought that I had wasted my money on a guitar. And after a couple of brutal months, it kicked in. If I can do it, you can do it. Stick with it and you will be surprised. I thought I’d never be able to play a C chord and now its really easy. PRACTICE every day if you can…

    3. This is my first day as well I was starting to feel like I wasted a Christmas present lol but thank for the encouragement bro keep shredding
